Historic Roscoe Village will host Christmas Candle Lighting Festivals on the first three Saturday nights in December.  The first Candle Lighting is two weeks from today on December 6th.

The Triple Locks Theater in Roscoe Village will present the play Christmas Belles also on the December 6th.

Historic Roscoe Village is freshly trimmed in wreaths and bows and all the shops are open for business this weekend.  Two shops have special events planned for this Friday.

Liberty Pottery in Roscoe Village will display new hand-thrown pottery designs made especially for wine enthusiasts as part of a special opening night reception at the Pomerene Center for the Arts in Coshocton.  This reception is open to the public and begins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday November 21st.  The special event will kick off a new season-long wine art and gifts exhibition called “Vino, Vino Vin!” at Pomerene.  For information call the Pomerene Center at (740) 622-0326.

As mentioned earlier this week (here,) The Wine Maker’s Cellar is offering a free winemaking class on Friday to demonstrate the simple process of making great wine at home.  The class will be held on Friday November 21st at 6:00 p.m.  To make a reservation call The Wine Maker’s Cellar at (740) 622-2383.

The third Thursday of November is the date of the biggest wine party in the world – Beaujolais Nouveau Day , which offically marks the beginning of the Gamay grape harvest and launches winemaking season in the Beaujolais region of France. 

The centerpiece of what is now a worldwide wine phenomenon, Beaujolais Nouveau Day is celebrated with equal fervor here in the United States.  Beaujolais Nouveau is a sweet and fruity red wine made from grapes only three days off the vine.  It is the ideal red wine to offer to those who insist that they only like white wine.  Best when chilled and more often gulped than sipped, it is a festive and fun wine to share when celebrating with friends and family.  It is traditionally tasted new on Beaujolais Nouveau Day and set aside to serve with Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner.

In accordance with tradition, retailers may not sell Beaujolais Nouveau before 12:01 a.m. on Thursday and demand for it is very high.  To find a bottle for Thanksgiving Dinner (and a couple more for Beaujolais Nouveau Day) call Uncorked Wine & Coffee Shop at (740) 622-3000.

It’s not too late to reserve your place in this month’s free winemaking class presented by the Wine Maker’s Cellar in Roscoe Village.

Cellar keeper Jeff Wright will teach beginners the first steps of home winemaking with a hands-on demonstration in making a new Italian red table wine for the upcoming holidays.

Join the class this Friday, and you’ll be able to treat your family to your own fine homemade wine with Christmas dinner.

The Garden Gate in Roscoe Village would like to remind you that potting new flowering bulbs this weekend will produce beautiful blooms around the house for Christmas Day. 

Amaryllis and Paperwhite bulbs are especially easy to start indoors and will fill your home with gorgeous pink, red and white flowers all winter long.

The Wine Maker’s Cellar in Roscoe Village is offering an introductory class in basic home winemaking.  The free class will be held on Friday November 21st in the Hay Craft and Learning Center on N. Whitewoman Street in Roscoe Village.  

Jeff Wright, owner of The Wine Maker’s Cellar, will give students a hands-on lesson in making a delicious Italian red wine from a kit.  The class will last for approximately two hours, and students will learn the entire process of making 5 gallons of new wine and preparing it for fermentation.  The Wine Maker’s Cellar will provide all materials and equipment for the class. 

This winemaking class is free and open to the public, but classroom seating is limited.  Please make reservations at Canal Cargo & The Wine Maker’s Cellar, 442 N. Whitewoman Street in Historic Roscoe Village(740) 623-2383.

We are pleased to announce that the Coshocton Footlight Players are preparing to present a new play, Christmas Belles, at the Triple Locks Theater in Historic Roscoe Village.

This hilarious Christmas comedy will open at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4th, following a special opening night reception from 6:00-6:30 p.m. sponsored by Uncorked in Roscoe Village.

Now in its 60th season, the Triple Locks Theater has scheduled two additional productions, Neil Simon’s classic comedy Rumors and Alan Jay Lerner’s classic musical Camelot, in the first half of 2009.

The Coshocton County chapter of Ducks Unlimited will hold its annual banquet on Saturday November 8, 2008 in the main pavilion at Lake Park.  

Coshocton Lake Park is adjacent to Historic Roscoe Village and features a stocked fishing lake, a nature trail and a scenic biking and walking path that passes the historic Lock 27 structure, an original part of the historic Ohio & Erie Canal system.
